Background

Along with drawing on the resources of The Spectrum Group, one of Europe’s leading independent intermediaries, Barry Davys has been an independent financial adviser for twenty six years since leaving the Royal Air Force where he held a number of roles including Officer in Charge of Accounts.

During the last 21 years Barry has assisted clients with all types of financial planning from the very simple to the complex, including Inheritance Tax planning which is an area of expertise for Barry. Indeed, Barry has often been called upon by accountants and lawyers to assist clients with their Inheritance Tax planning. An example of this expertise was planning that reduced an inheritance tax liability by £800,000 for a 103 year old woman. Barry has acted for both UK and international clients in the last 26 years including clients located in Vietnam, Syria, the Bahamas and of course clients in Spain and the Islands.

As an independent adviser, Barry provides you with the advantage of unbiased financial planning advice. Fees

There are no consulting fees for providing you with advice or ongoing service.  The Spectrum Group receives industry-standard arrangement fees directly from the financial institutions with whom we place our clients’ business - not directly from our clients. Furthermore, our ongoing remuneration is performance-related so we share in a long-term incentive for your financial success.

Clients are only introduced to Mr. Davys by personal introduction (referral by existing clients), or by means of professional introduction (financial institutions, employer Human Resources departments or by professional service providers such as accountants, lawyers, trust managers or relocation specialists). Mr. Davys works with clients of all ages, wealth and financial experience and sophistication- including fellow investment professionals and financial academics. It is a well-established principle that people from all walks of life who plan for their goals are far more likely to reach them than those who don’t!

Qualifications and Professional Memberships

In addition to practical experience Barry has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Warwick University and took the very first Financial Planning Certificate and the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate and was successful in both.  Specialist papers included taxation and trusts and investment management. 

Barry Davys is President of the Conservatives Abroad Empordá.

Barry has also been Non Executive Chairman of a spin out company from Dundee University, Governor of an independent school and secretary of a Highland Games in Scotland.
