Expat Financial Advice Spain

Our Independent Financial Advisers Spain - Code of Conduct

This document details the association between advisers and their clients as well as Spectrum and it’s advisers. “Spectrum” refers to those companies that from time to time form part of the Spectrum IFA Group. This code of conduct and agreement applies to all advisers within Spectrum and supersedes all previous agreements between Spectrum and the adviser.

In respect of the client relationship the adviser shall:

  • Conduct a detailed Client Profile exercise to determine the current financial capabilities and future financial and protection needs.

·        Explain fully the type of product recommended, with particular attention to charging structures and any possible cancellation penalties that may be incurred.

  • Supply relevant product brochures (including technical guides) of the supplier company for each client to read and retain for future reference.

·        Present a future value projection which, is calculated at a realistic annual growth rate using only official supplier company illustrations.

  • Explain that unit values can go down as well as up and past performances are not necessarily a guide to future performance. Further, will also explain that whilst projections of future performance illustrate an annual growth rate, no warranties as to the actual performance of the recommended product are being made, by any party.

  • Explain that Spectrum acts as the agent of the client, and will receive a commission from the financial institution with which the business is placed. Neither Spectrum nor the adviser shall charge nor receive any fees in respect of the transaction from the client.

  • Explain the contract will be with a financial institution (not Spectrum) and all payments both to and from the contract will be made directly between the client and the institution, never via Spectrum. Further, will also explain that the client may at any time cease to avail themselves of Spectrum’s services without affecting the contract in any way.

  • Explain that any investment recommended is a medium to long-term investment and is not suitable for short term trading.

  • When conducting servicing meetings with the client use only official financial institution valuations, performance figures or statements. And maintain a file of all written communications.
  • Jointly, Spectrum and the Adviser agree to provide and participate in a programme of continuous professional development consistent with maintaining the standards required by regulators / authorities within the jurisdictions in which Spectrum operates
