The Bank of Spain has announced that the amount of bad loans to Spanish banks is 7.9% of the total loan portfolio.  As a number this does not sound too bad, yet this is a record high for bad loans.  Also the increase in bad loans between December 2011 and January 2012 was 4.2 Billion euros, taking the total to 140 Billion euros.
