International Financial Adviser adds offices
International Adviser magazine, the industry magazine for international and offshore financial advisers, has recently commented on our continued expansion. Expat Financial Adviser Spain is run by Barry Davys of the Spectrum IFA Group. Spectrum have opened a new office in Rome. Heading up the office, is Gareth Horsfall, a UK qualified financial planner who has lived and worked as an IFA in the city for the past seven years.
Italy has proved a challenging market for financial advisers. This is largely because English speaking foreigners in Italy tend to be scattered thinly across the country, rather than concentrating in a few areas, the way they do in such places as Dubai, Hong Kong, and even in Spain.
Horsfall states that “There are a few hot spots in Italy, such as Rome, Milan and parts of Tuscany, but even in these places, the expatriate population has been hit quite hard by the economy. So for us, it means a lot of going out and finding the clients.”
Like many other advisory firms, we often do this by organising seminars for potential clients, a number of which it has already held in such regions as Tuscany and Umbria, according to Michael Lodhi, chairman and co-founder of the company. Spectrum received a favourable response in these markets.
There are now seven countries in which we have a presence on the ground. The other countries include Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
We are able to offer financial advice across Spain and we also have offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Costa Blanca and Mallorca. Advisers are also available from the French border in the Costa Brava all the way to Cadiz.
